Mammoth Advertising had a short time frame and a big vision for Saw 4’s site. When they approached us, they were running out of time and needed to implement their vision without stranding their users with less than a T3 line. We were able to develop a highly efficient 3D engine that integrates AS3 and AS2 SWF’s into a single seamless, quick loading experience. Additionally, there was a need for developing a site architecture that allowed for quick content additions, so all site content is externally defined to simplify the process of updating and developing more content. Through Automata Studio’s technical prowess and Mammoth’s frightening vision, the Saw 4 site came together in record time to scare and delight fans everywhere.

MathDice is an educational game developed by ThinkFun to strengthen kids' math skills. Automata Studios was originally approached by ThinkFun to create a simple click-through interactive presentation to be used by ThinkFun employees to explain how MathDice works in a conference setting. Due to the success of that interactive, we were asked to develop a full online version of the game. MathDice Online enforces the rules of MathDice while taking advantage of the unique possibilities of rich media.

We developed the virtual puppets that make up the "On Demand" section of this award winning site in collaboration with Erik Natzke. A custom-built physics simulator makes the puppets move realistically while still being easy to use. Users can add their own voice to the puppets via either computer microphone or a special toll-free phone number. The "puppet chat" functionality uses Flash Media Server to allow users to chat in real-time using their puppets.

For their recent worldwide site rollout for the Fragrance & Beauty division, Chanel partnered with us to develop a smart and effective way to handle their multi-lingual needs. Layouts that render on the fly based upon a user chosen language, parallel development of a comprehensive CMS and front end user interface, and the creation of a custom API for future content and application development were just a few of the many challenges we were hired upon to tackle.

Working as the technical developer and liaison between Chanel’s in-house international design team and a backend database department, we found new and innovative ways to approach their specific needs. Our solutions allow scalability and adaptability without sacrificing efficiency or loading times. Custom created UI elements and CMS work with our API to allow Chanel’s site to grow as their needs change, from season to season, year after year.

Branden Hall Chief Technical Officer Branden has a very hard time choosing a favorite number - it's a toss-up between 0 and 1. When he's not making terrible math-based jokes Branden loves crafting code. He was in kindergarden when he first got a taste of what computers could do. Ever since, he has had an insatiable appetite for all things digital. Branden was a pioneer in the early days of online rich media and his work has won a number of industry awards.
